I started back to the gym yesterday after being pretty lax with my workouts over the past two weeks. I did hit the fitness center twice while in Hawaii as well as we snorkled almost everyday. But I have not been doing my hard workouts much this month. Now I find myself feeling a little unprepared as Saturday's Run for Your Lives race approaches. Another 5K Obstacle Run that I have been looking forward to running. Three of my OCR ladies & one friend have signed up to volunteer as stumbling Zombies then race afterwards. We get to keep our cool makeup on they do for us during our race. So I am thinking I'll wear my Wonder Woman outfit & become the zombie version for our race heat. It should be great fun! I'm sure it won't be my best PR but it's really about the fun. Today I am off to the park to try to get in a good workout so maybe I won't feel like I'm dying on Saturday. Look for some fun pictures this weekend .

Down & Dirty
Race #3 DONE! We had fun in the beginning hanging out waiting to run. But once the actual course started we where very disappointed this year with the 5k Down & Dirty on JBLM. In years past there was running but there where a lot more fun obstacles. This year we ran, ran, & ran some more only to come to half hazard looking obstacles that looked like they just threw together that morning. All the poor children who had come to run where in tears & complaining on most of the run. They really should have said "hey there are 6 sort of obstacles this year. It will be mostly running hills on a trail where we chopped all the trees down". Why an event put on by the Army could not come up with an amazing obstacle course is beyond me! I won't be paying to run that again .
I did enjoy finally running with some of the wear blue:run to remember group from the Dupont chapter. The most fun on the course was when we would run by others who cheered us on for wearing our blue. Over all race number three was a huge BUST! July is relaxation & some training month- no huge runs planned. Which I think is much needed. I am pretty sure my body is screaming for some down time. We are off to go camping later this week which should be an adventure in itself with four boys & two dogs.

5k Rock N Run
I really wanted to do another Obstacle run but didn't think it was possible until tonight. My friends talked me into signing up for one last 5k run the last Saturday in October. We are sll super excited as it is suppose to be as extreme if not harder then the Warrior Dash we did last year in Portland. This one is in Seattle so we don' have far to travel. I am signed up with Best friend Bekah , it'll be our 5th Obstacle run together. It has 14 Obstacles- that's right folks I said 14!! Some of them look insane & the waiver I signed actually made me nervous.
It says " You agree that you could get seriously injured due to smoke inhalation, seizures, heart attack, drowning, broken bones from falls. These injuries could result in death!". I was like Holy Smokes what did you all talk me into to running?? But at the same time my adrenalin is pumping & I am ready for some good training this week. Motivation is definitely what drives this fitness girl. I finished the Warrior Dash in a little over an hour so I would love to do better. So I WILL be dragging Bekah along-lol since Nathan her husband has to work the event & can't run the course with us but in a later heat. One of our other friends is running in the wave that starts thirty minutes after us. We figure she is so fast maybe by the time she get's to us we will be dragging our limp bodies over the finish line-LOL Should be good fun we just want to think of some fun original ideas for a costume. Something that is light & we can still crawl through mud pits with out it weighing us down- any ideas from my bloggy friends??
Here is the link to a video of the run & the link to the site so you can see the course map. Go read the WHY you do this section- it will make you laugh. One of them is because you want ot make a change in your life & you are insane!

EDIT: Since I posted they added 3 more obstacles to the run- we may not survive!

Rampage at the RAC
I was so excited for today's 5K that my good intentions of going to bed at 9:30PM to get extra sleep back fired. I laid there until mid-night then popped up at 6AM this morning! I wasn't tired I was ready to RUN!! After we got everyone picked up we headed out to Lacey,WA which is about a thirty minute drive from our town. We linked up with our two other military runners & started having fun! Thank goodness there was no rain like they had fore casted but it was only 55 degrees, brrrrrr! After a few snap shots of our "clean" group which had 6 ladies & one Army husband we got ready to run!
The ladies- all ARMY Spouses.
Bekah's husband Nathan ran with us- Brave soul!!
Almost time to go under the wire in the MUD!
Randi got a nose & mouth full of mud here-lol
A little cold & muddy!!
ALL DONE!!
Freezing Cold Water to wash off.....YUCK!
Sort of clean, but to cold to care.
YAY- WE ARE DRY & WARM!!

A Day Away...
My Fitness Friday Post will be postponed until Saturday sometime. Saturday is when I along with 8 other military spouses run our 5K Obstacle run. I am SO EXCITED!! We got the email yesterday with the final route & obstacles. It looks like cool drizzly weather for Saturday's run so burrr.... But all the running is sure to warm us up eventually until we hit the Mud Pit-LOL Here is a link to the course they sent out if you want to check it out.
The Rampage 5k Course Whoo-Hooo I tested out my foot today with a quick 1/2 mile run & had NO pain!! So all the resting this week has drove me nuts , but helped my foot. Hopefully after Saturday I am not hurting, but I plan on at least another week of really easy work outs, BOOOO!!! But if it get's me back up & running sooner then it's what I'll do for now.
Now since we are done with the Fitness talk until Saturday we can move on to Halloween- oh how my family Loves this time of year! Usually we just decorate for Fall in general. But this year the boys talked me into doing our front porch with a Halloween theme. I have to say we had the best time shopping & then decorating. We even changed the front light to orange & it looks super spooky when it's dark & turned all orange. Jacob also got his costume today which he loves & it just cracks me up! Hello 80's- WELCOME BACK!! haha- anyway enjoy the pictures & have a fun safe weekend everyone.
Jeremy is the only one who isn't in any of the pictures yet. He only has part of his costume, so wants to wait until it is complete for a picture-haha. So stay tuned, it shouldn't be much longer until he is ready for his fun photo.

Rampage......Hear I Come!
While getting my hair cut by my favorite lady Teresa she told me about another 5k Obstacle run in October close to home. I ran straight home googled it & registered! I love obstacle runs even though they wear me out!! What makes it so great is it is in October so I still have enough time to prep since I just started back to a good gym routine & that it is only 35 mins from my house! We didn't get to register for the Warrior Dash like we did last year so I was a little bummed. But it is about a 2 hour drive & over night stay- wasn't happening with the husband deployed. But this is right down the road & involves almost all the same obstacles just a little shorter course. It's called Rampage ! They promise mud, cargo nets, fire, water slides, & FUN! I can't wait! If you remember I did the 5K JBLM Mud Run for the second time this past May. It is always so much fun to push myself on the obstacles. I am NOT a runner at all,but the obstacles help break it up for me. Super excited & it will keep me motivated to keep up my gym time.
Speaking of gym time, when I went earlier today I had so much fun! I studied through ISSA to get certified as a Personal Trainer & completed all the test but my final when I just never made the time to take, totally my own fault! But I have all the knowledge to help guide people with their Personal Training in the gym & today I got a chance to do just that!
I watched as I worked out a young girl of 16 working out with her dad. Her dad looked to be in pretty good shape & was trying to help his daughter. The problem was he was giving her to much weight, not helping her with her form, & was just not a good trainer bless his heart. I finally had to cut in when I was doing my push-ups & was right in front of the machine he had her working. She was struggling by pull three because the weight was so off for her. I stopped & butted in! Very unusual for me as I hate to talk to people I don't know, plus who knew if the dad would be offended or not? Lucky for me, as I explained to them both to lower the weight & corrected her form he asked if I knew how to help with girls-lol. I said I knew a little & asked her how long she had been working out? Well turns out it was only day two for her & she had just joined the High School volleyball team, so dad got her a gym membership to supplement practices. I was super happy to take her off the machine she had no business even working on & handing her a free weight. I showed her how to keep her form & do the same exercise that the machine did but with no strain on her neck or back. They then asked for a few more pointers which I was happy to dole out before I hit the showers. Man it was so AMAZING to be back at helping others which I love- I am so a caregiver at heart & showing a young girl the correct way to exercise made me happy. It makes me want to kick myself for not taking the time to get that dang final done! I can go back re-register & just take the final but it will cost, so I am thinking hard about doing just that. Love to exercise , I love to help others learn to love a healthy lifestyle, so maybe I'll get back to it soon. That is one thing I adore about deployments, the possibilities for your year ahead are endless- the year IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!! I say GO BIG or GO HOME!
Oh & here is my new end of summer hair cut. New length & thinned A LOT! I have majorly thick hair- so I always love when Teresa thins it for me.
